Explore this septic systems project showcasing our solutions
When our team arrived on this property in Capalaba, they expected a straightforward pipework renewal for a new septic system. However, upon further inspection, we quickly discovered that this project was a lot more complicated than we realised.
Our specialist plumbers got to work replacing a section of the existing pipework to connect it to the new septic system. We also inspected the home's waste infrastructure to determine whether it was compliant and functioning properly. As we continued digging and excavating the area, it became clear that the existing drainage system was in far worse condition than anticipated.
Our team soon discovered that the original clay pipework, which had been in place for decades, had deteriorated significantly. In several sections of the system, the pipes were cracked, misaligned or had failed. This level of corrosion is common in older clay systems, particularly in areas like Capalaba, where ground movement, moisture and age take a toll over time.
While our team deals with damaged pipes all the time, it was the location of these damaged pipes that made it difficult to work on. Much of the affected pipes ran underneath the house, so we had to carefully access them from under the floorboards, which demanded patience and focus.
Recognising the extent of the issue, our team quickly switched up their approach. Rather than trying to do patch repairs, we fully removed the compromised clay pipes and replaced them with modern, strong PVC pipework. This ensured a long-term solution for the homeowner, eliminating the risk of future failures and ongoing maintenance issues.
To help with the excavation process, especially in tight spaces, our team used vacuum excavation. This method allowed us to accurately remove soil without causing unnecessary disturbance to the surrounding area. It’s a cleaner, safer, and more efficient way to expose underground pipework, especially in situations where accuracy is critical.
Once access was established, the team carefully removed the old clay pipes and installed new PVC drainage lines. The new system was laid out to correct grades, properly supported, and connected to integrate seamlessly with the upgraded septic system. Every step was carried out with attention to detail to ensure optimal performance and compliance with current standards.
