What is a biocycle?

You have likely heard the term ‘biocycle’ thrown around if you have ever looked into getting a sewage treatment plant, especially if a home sewage treatment plant (HSTP) was (or is) a consideration for your home. It is interesting to note however that a biocycle isn’t actually a type of system… it is a brand.

Wastewater Systems

The BioCycle brand is a word often used as a general term to refer to many different sewage treatment systems - kind of like how we use the term ‘Glad Wrap’ for plastic wrap or ‘Sprite’ for lemonade. The term ‘biocycle’ is actually a brand name, as opposed to a kind of sewage treatment system, and is used interchangeably with HTSP (which isn’t entirely correct!).

What is a BioCycle System?

A BioCycle Treatment System is a kind of aerobic wastewater treatment option which treats wastewater through a sequence of biological processes. It focuses on separating out solid wastes and digesting them in a series of chambers, basing the movement within the system on displacement. The treated water is then used for irrigation for your garden.
