How does an Enviro-Septic System work?

The Advanced Enviro-Septic system is designed to be safe for both your family and the environment. It was designed to treat wastewater without the need for electricity or chemicals, which is not only good for the environment but good for the family budget. So how does it work?

The AES system is made up of four main parts:

• The perforated pipe where the wastewater runs into
• The Bio-accelerator fabric speeds up the breakdown of the wastewater
• Polypropolene fibre membrane which covers the pipe and promotes oxygen supply and biological breakdown
• Polypropolene geotextile canvas covers the entire lot to prevent soil etc coming into the system

Now we know the parts, how do these work together to break down your wastewater?

• The effluent enters the AES pipe and it is cooled down to ground temperature. This cooling causes the effluent to separate into the scum and sludge layers. Heavier particles sink to the bottom and form a sludge layer while the lighter particles form the scum layer
• The effluent then works its way through the perforations on the pipe to the fibre membrane (with bio-accelerator fabric). The bacteria in the fibre membrane starts breaking down the effluent.
• The effluent works its way through the fibre membranes via capillary action until it is on the outside of the pipe.
• Sand wicks the treated water away from the system and into the underlying soil. The treatment continues as it works its way through the sand so that by the time it reaches the soil it is almost completely free of contaminants.
